System Message 20406

Posted on by 220

We have a computer that gives this error message to one user only.  2 other people can log into the computer, then log into SL and open the PO Receipts screen (04.010.00) fine but when this other person logs into the computer, then into SL he gets the "System Message 20406 - error loading VBA project. HRESULT = ....."  If he only logs into SL and leaves the network log in under someone else he is fine.  Only happens when he logs into the network then into SL on this particular computer.  He can log into both the network and SL on other computers fine.  What could this be??

    RE: System Message 20406

We are experiencing this issue in SL 2011.  Citrix client installation that multiple users use.  I have to resolve it by following these steps:

    •Locate the APC folder (C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Dynamics SL\APC).

•By default the APC folder is hidden due to some security reason. You may need to enable the visibility of hidden files / folders.

•Delete the swimapi.kpr and swimapiex.exd files. These files are responsible for the loading of customizations prior to screen load.

•On launching the customized screen again, these files will be recreated.

We've experienced this in Shippers and Voucher and Adjustment Entry.  It recurs every two to four weeks.  Sometimes for one user; sometimes for multiple users.  We are not making any changes to SL in the interim; this just sporadically pops up.  Any ideas on cause?  We need to get it resolved permanently.  Once I delete the files listed above, the users are fine - until it happens again.  So I know it's not a rights issue. Please help.  Thanks.

Thank you Chris!  This was very helpful.  It looks to me like it will solve our issue.

    Hi Dana,

I would check out knowledgebase article id 873686. It appears that the user has insufficent Windows permissions for the Dynamics SL directory.

You can also compare network access rights between a "working user" and this "non-working user"

    Thanks,
