D365 Version 10.44

SalesLine Reservation Type default is Automatic.

Negative Physical is not allowed.

Delivery Date Control is none

CTP is run manually using Real-Time CTP

When a Sales Line is entered for an Item with zero quantity on hand, an error 'quantity cannot be reserved because 0 quantity is on hand' is thrown and the line CANNOT BE SAVED. The only way to save the line is to switch to Manual Reservation.

Is this really how Automatic Reservation should work? I would have expected the line to be saved and the reservation result would be On Order. At the next planning run, an order would be created for the item.

Any assistance you can provide would be appreciated.

It will just display a warning message; however, you can still save the Sales order line.

No, we do not get the pop up. It is possible that we are suppressing it somehow.

Do you know the name of that pop up form?

Hello, if no inventory is available and you enable automatic reservation, the following pop-up message is displayed.

When you click OK on the prompted window form, it only displays the inventory on order.
