Hi guys,

In my sales invoice line, how to input a multi line description. Imagine I'm selling a laptop and i would like to copy and paste the laptop specification into invoice item line.

For example description below.

14” FHD IPS Display/ 2K IPS Touchscreen
5th Generation Core i5 Processor up to 3.9 GHz
8 GB Ram
256 GB SSD
Secure Fingerprint Scanner
Lenovo IBM TPM Enterprise Grade Encryption Security
Original Microsoft Windows 10
1.3KG Ultralight Carbon Fibre and Magnesium Alloy Body
Best keyboard on any laptop with backlight
Up to 6 Hours Built-in Battery

I want to easily copy and paste the description into a field

I have the same question (0)

    Hello,

Thank you for posting on the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Forum.

I would review the information related to Extended Text at the following link:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../ui-how-define-ext-text

Extended text would allow you to have a standard set of text lines. These can be modified once inserted on the Sales Invoice Document.

Thanks and have a great weekend.

    Tom

Hi Tom, that is possible but imagine I have 10 line of item( laptop ) . Each laptop has 10 lines of text  specifications.  End up I have 100 hundred if lines. It is quite difficult to manage . Any alternatives?

On the header you have a field called “work description”. For a client we added a line level field like this due to the exact reasons you have stated, even same industry. This meant a change to document reports as well so that detail could be shown if the user knew the client likes that type of detail.

I would check the base app to see how this is working for “work description” and then it is a copy and paste method. Will have to be a table and page extension plus whatever you need report wise.

RE: long description at sales invoice line

    Hello,

I agree with the solution given by Tom if the specification are standard at Item level. If it is different all time then you can write these additional info as separate lines next to the item line. you can copy it from excel and past it to the invoice screen (of course you need to have same set template in excel as invoice line)

you can even print these information in your document print.
