Add partial shipments to an existing Load

Team - We have a scenario, a sales order has multiple lines and each line is referenced/marked to a production order. During production RaF, the sales line will be released to warehouse (partial) automatically using cross docking template. All items on SO will be shipped together in a single load.

Whenever an SO line is released to warehouse, it is creating a new shipment and load. So instead of creating a new load every time, is it possible to add to an exiting load (to the first load) automatically? shipments can be multiple though.

Have tried "Automatically create Load at sales order entry" but this does not support automatic release of sales orders, and has to be released manually from load planning workbench.

Please suggest if there is any workaround. Thanks.

You should also consider the new "Shipment consolidation policy" - so you not only have 1 load, but maybe also just 1 shipment?

The functionality you are looking for is called Advanced Load Building During Wave. It allows you to add an extra method to the Wave template, which will cause F&O to try to assign a new shipment lines to an existing Load.

F&O will look for an existing Load (which is not Shipped) which contains one or more Shipments with the same criteria as the new Shipment. These criteria can be any field on the Shipment or Shipment line. For example, Shipping carrier is a field on the Shipment header. You could define that F&O should look for a Load which contains Shipments that have the same Shipping carrier. If one is found, F&O will add the shipment to that Load. If there are no Loads which contain Shipments with the same Shipping carrier, F&O will create a new Load.

The functionality has been available since 10.0.1, but only if enabled via Flighting. It seems it will be available in the Janurary 2020 release without the need to go through the Flighting steps.

Thanks Zain and Sachin for your suggestions

Load building workbench is part of Transport management and we are not using TM, and manual activity is not possible due to huge volumes.

    Thanks

Yes, you can add new/pending line items to an existing load, but it will be a manual activity. Also, by marking "yes" to Automatically create load at sales order entry, it will create a new shipment id and load for new order's.
