Hi everyone,

I'm trying to modify a default cube Dynamics AX (General Ledger).

At the moment I have the main project named "Dynamics AX" with inside all the default cubes and relationships.

My intent is create a copy of the main project, to be able to work on the specific cube "General Ledger".

Which a strategy should I follow? What Do you advice to me?

I am open to any opinions!

Thank you all in advance

I tried to copy the project to Visual Studio

I renamed the project and as property, under "Project Properties Pages" I renamed the database name and the servername.

But when I go to deploy I get this:

A database with ID 'DatabaseName' already exists on the 'servername' server. If you proceed with deployment, the database will be overwritten. Would you like to continue?

How can I avoid this? Why does it think its a completely different database?

    Thanks,

My idea is duplicate the project in visual studio.

How can I make a duplicate of a project that already exist in the "Analysis Services Projects"?

    RE: Modify a default cube

    Good evening,

You can use the BI Analysis wizard to modify the cubes from within AX. In this wizard you can select the analysis project to modify. You could duplicate the Analysis project in the AX Aot and then modify the duplicated version. With this solution you do not have to change the standard cube project. However: If you change the standard project, the changes are saved in a separate layer and you can Always revert to the Original version.

Next to the option to duplicate the project in the AX aot, you could also deploy the default cubes from within AX and make a copy of the project from within the analysis server. You could then use Visual Studio to make the changes.

The best choice depends on your specific situation. Do you want to use the wizard or do you want to make changes using Visual Studio?

    Hope this information helps you.
