Rollup Field over connections

Hello Everybody,

i use connections from accounts to contacts/accounts to establish ownership role for the specific account.

i customized the connection form and added a decimal field called ownership percentage.

i added to the account entity a decimal field with a type of a roll-up.

but when i try to choose connections as a source for the roll up field, it does not show up on the list.

is it not possible to use calculated/roll up fields on connection records?

thanks,

Tal

    Hi,

it is not possible to use calculated/roll up fields on connection records.
it only support for related entity and only 1 level.

For more limitations of Calculated /Roll up field you can refer to this blog

As Alex pointed correctly, it's not possible

Perhaps if your users really like connections you could create a plugin that sets a normal 1:N relationship 'behind the scenes' when a connection is created/deleted. You could then use a rollup.

Well, Connections are supposed to be related entity and only 1 level.

this is quite annoying.  i would have open a CONNECT issue.

but i have a feeling that it would not get that much of a support.

    Hi Scott,

thank you, but the whole point was to stay CUSTOMIZATION only rather than involve development. and simple development would be to do the rollup by code rather than create another entity and another relationship + code.

this really makes the connection module quite useless every time i try to utilize it.

i would have open a CONNECT issue.

but i have a feeling that it would not get that much of a support.

    Try this :

    dynamicsofdynamicscrm.wordpress.com/.../new-utility-synchronous-rollup-for-dynamics-crm-2015

as long as you have field names to identify this will work.

will try. but i am skeptic since i bet connections are not considered regular 1:N.

    thanks

    Tal
