We are trying to create a VM from D365 VHD on Vmware but not sure whether it will work.
Please help on the steps.

I haven't done in myself, but have seen others do it. Please try the steps in this link to convert VHD into VMDK and then use it on VMWare.
Which version of VMWare, you are using? VMWare Workstation or VSPhere

Yes, you can deploy on VMware Esxi 6.7 version. You need to convert VHD to VMDK and deploy it.
