Yeah I am working through it myself, trying to iron out the kinks. Here are some thoughts on your questions.
1. Price Lists:
- you need to set up two price lists. One with the context value of "Cost", one with the context value of "Sales".
- Scroll down, and then add new resources in the subgrid. When you add new resources, it asks you what the price is.
- In theory CRM uses the Cost price list on your project for rates, and it uses the sales price from the quote (if you link it) for the sales price.
- Organizational Units: add the cost price lists to this as well
- I have had a bit of luck with this, some roles will show the $ amounts, and other's won't, and I am not sure why.
2. No. I added the project to the quote, saved & then tried to import, and nothing happened.
3. Work templates are the hours for people I think. Project Templates really just copy the roles that you use on a Project again and again. In Assistance PSA (competitor to Project Services), you use Project Templates to create projects quickly with the same or similar WBS. I imagine in future development for Project Services, the WBS will be included
4. Not sure what you mean for this one exactly. I think this question could mean two things.
- Resource Work Hours: You need to set a calendar up for each resource, stating their working week. Once you have created the Resource, open up its record, then click in the ribbon beside the Resource Record Name on the drop down to see related entities. Then click on "Work Hours" This is where you maintain the resources work hours. It just uses the Out of the Box Calendar of CRM, follow the normal practices to set up a working week
- Allocate hours from a project to a resource: From what I understand (I have had hit and miss with this), you create your WBS, assigning tasks to roles. Then you click on the generate project team button. Then in the ribbon beside the project record name, click the drop down to show related entities, and select the "Resource Requirements". In the previous step when you click the generate project team button, it creates a resource requirement record for each role. Select a record and then you have a couple of options. Basically at this point, you can follow the guide online on how to manage requests etc.
www.microsoft.com/.../resource-manager-s-guide-for-crm-project-service.aspx
- One thing about WBS, is that there are two ways to schedule a task, either Automatically or Manually. From what I understand, automatically will front load the hours to a resource, meaning if you have 60 hours over two weeks, week one will have 40 hours and week 2 will have 20 hours. I found that when I select Manually, the hours are distributed evenly across the two weeks
