Assemble to order item - not giving stockout warning while making sale's order

Hello All,

I have an item which is assemble to order(Replenishment as assembly and policy as assemble to order) and has two components(Both have replenishment as purchase and reordering policy lot to lot) and i don't have any in stock but when i try to create a sale's order for that assemble to order item, it generates automatically and then when i create warehouse shipment, there is no error that stops me from creating warehouse shipment but it should.

Where as , In general when i don't have item in stock, Business central stops me and doesn't allow me to create warehouse shipment because i don't have anything in stock. Most of the time replenishment is purchase

Can you please let me know that why i am not getting error, it allows me to create warehouse shipment and even i can create pick for that assemble to order item but it should stop me. Please help!

Hi Aakash,

Could you please provide a screenshot and also check the following:

Have you tried ordering the product individually with the assembly? Does it trigger a warning?

Did you explode the BOM of the assembly while creating the sales order? Does it show an error message?

Is any existing inventory allocated to other sales orders?

Ideally, the Business central should display a warning message when creating a sales order or quote.

The image below is a assemble to order - order which has 2 components and is allowing us to create warehouse shipment. We don't have components in stock.

If i usually create a sale's order for an item, i can't create a warehouse shipment because of having insufficient amount of stock. As you see below once i started creating a sales order for an assemble to order item, it is still allowing us to create a warehouse shipment and pick.

I have checked all the setting sales & receivable , assembly setup.

As far as I know, the system will not prevent it and will only control it when the shipments are posted.

Hello,

1. Sales & Receivable Setup, there is a Boolean Called "Stockout Warning" if the Boolean is True.
2. Inventory Setup, there is a Boolean called "Prevent Negative inventory" if the Boolean is True.

If Both the Booleans are true then system will not allow you to Post the transaction if you don't have the enough stock.
