Adding items to Sales order based on specific items and amount threshold

Hi,

Here is the situation I am trying to figure out how to accomplish, ideally using standard AX functionality.

We have 3 eligible items.  On a Sales Order, if any combination of the 3 eligible items totals up to $250, then we would want to ADD specific (different) items to the Sales Order.  Only the ordered eligible item's ADD items would be added to the order (MEANING:  If 2 of the eligible items is ordered and the 3rd is not AND it reaches the $250 threshold, then the ADD items attached to the 1st 2 items would be added, but not the 3rd).

I believe I would need some method by which to link the additional items to the original items so they could be added automatically to the Sales Order.

Can anyone suggest functionality and/or setup that would allow me to accomplish this?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Shaun

That sounds like a Retail discount Mix-and-match functionality, meaning after buying a combination of products you get another product for free.

It probably does not make a combination of specific items PLUS the minimum threshold value, but you could explore that functinoality if you do have the Retail license and see if you could expand on it with some customization.

It would also be possible to use Supplementary item functionality to link each eligible item to its related other item. This functionality would not automatically kick-in though. You would need to rely on the sales clerk calculating that the relevant lines had gone over a threshold.

Hi Vilmos, thanks for the reply.

I am running AX 2012 R2.  It seems that the mix and match functionality, and that of a simple Quantity discount is available.  However, I cannot get past selecting the "Retail price group" -> "Price group:" section in any of the discount types as there is nothing listed under this drop-down.  I DO have options listed if I look in /Retail/Setup/Pricing and discounts/Retail price groups.

Is this not what I should be seeing for options?  OR, is there some other source I should be looking to?  If so, can you guide me to where it is located in the UI?

    Thanks,

    Shaun

I only used this functionality many years back when it was from LS Retail, now I would not be able to guide you step-by-step in the Microsoft-way after they've acquired it. The general idea remained the same where you could combine the items the way you want to provide something more on the order, thus this is where you should concentrate your resources on to design and expand the new functionality.

Try to check the documentation, or fiddle around in a Demo environment to get it working, if other community members cannot chip in with additional details.

    Hi Vilmos,

I have read the documentation and am following the simple basic steps to setup a Quantity Discount.  However, I cannot get past the selection of the Price Group as there is nothing to select (even though I have vales in the setup).

Perhaps others in the community can respond and help.

    Thanks,

    Shaun
