Installing second Front-End CRM 2015 server.

Hi All,

Our current on-premise CRM 2015 deployment have one front-end and one back-end servers.

We would like to install another front-end server and connect to the existing deployment.

Since our existing deployment is live, we would like to avoid any interruptions or outages.

So, my question is: does connecting another front-end server to an existing deployment will cause an outage? Or the users will be able to access their organisations during the installation?

I can't seem to find any info regarding this matter in the Installation Guide.

Any advise will be appreciated.

Regards,

    Hi Garusinho,

The current front end server won't be affected a lot by the work you do behind the scene. You need to build the new server and install CRM(and the latest updates).  Then you need to deny access to the live server at this point and to backup the database. Then using deployment manager on the new built server you have to import the backed up data base(organization). You can go live with the new server after you do the necessary checks.

    Hi,

Yes you will have an outage on your live environment.

You can use multiple front end servers in an NLB setup.

(Check can be found on the properties in the deployment admin tool)

More info on howto and what you need can be found here:

    technet.microsoft.com/.../hh699803.aspx

On the other hand it might be easier to see other elements of performance increase? Like using SSD for you SQL or checking for lock view requests or up the network speed, setup ssl (uses a compression ratio) etc etc..
