Default order setting for this item

But when i estimate the production order, D365FO does not give me the sub production order, system create the Purchase order for this item.

Can someone help to advice? Is there any step that i have missed?

    Hello ThuNgo,

Check the Default Order setting for you D0002 item for Site 4.

Likely, you will find that the Default Order Type is set at <Purchase Order>.  Change it to <Production Order> and try again.

    Hi Thu,

I copied your configuration and the only way I could reproduce your behavior was with the Default Order Type at <Purchase Order>.  With Production order, estimating the parent item creates a Production Order for D0002.

You only have the one BOM 000426 for the parent and its the BoM used for that Production Order?

    Hello Thu,

You are working in a Contoso environment, so likely same configuration for D0002. When I tested in Contoso Site 4 with the a new Bom version for the same site I had same issue.

From Item D0002, have a look at the Item Coverage.  Mine showed this:

    pastedimage1648743776000v1.png

Even when the BoM Designer displayed like so:

    pastedimage1648743964526v2.png

When I changed the Planned Order type to Production Order on Item coverage, it worked fine:

Hope this is it, because I am out of ideas

    Hi Danny,

    Thank a lot!

I change the Planned order setting for Item coverage from Purchase order to Production and now D365FO create the new production order instead of Purchase order.

So the setting inherit from Item coverage rather than default order setting?

    Best regards,

    Excellent!

When the Item coverage is created, it uses the default order setting, but you can override the default (Change Plan Order type)  which was probably done way back when they created that demo data.   Create a new entry in Item Coverage and you'll see.

If it had been your data, you would have known.

    Regards,

    Danny
