Item Filter Codes and Filter Code Groups

Hi all,

I have read the TechNet information about filter codes and was wondering A) what they are actually used for and B) if I could use them to view products on promotion

To explain: I need to be able to view products that are on promotion all on one page, and knowing that filter codes are shown on the released product list page, I wondered if I could set up my promotion products with a 'promotion' filter to use on the list page? has anyone got any ideas?

thanks

    Hi ammy_27

Filter Codes were added for the R3 Warehouse Management functionality. It's a way to define a property on one or more items that can then be used by Warehouse Management when determining how to handle the item. For example, if you set a filter code called 'Cold', you could configure Warehouse Management to put away items with filter code 'Cold' to locations defined as cold stores.

There is also functionality in this module to set Filter Code values on Items automatically using Filter groups. Finally, there is functionality to use Filter codes to make certain items available to orders with individual Customers or Suppliers, or to define when items can become available to all customers, all suppliers or both.

If you're not using this functionality, I imagine you could hijack these fields for your own reporting needs. Since Filter Groups can be used to set Filter codes with start and end dates, I wonder if you could even specify the duration of your promotion, and get AX to ensure the right items have the right promotion codes at the right time? Do let us know if that works out!

    Hi Guy,

We are using 1 of the filter codes to define an released product as Fast / Slow mover.

Is it possible to create a basic setting and let Ax update this setting, based upon the amount of picks of this item within a certain time period?

Hello Guy, I've setup the filter code pre-requisites in WM Parameters, created the filter codes, and attached 'Customer X' to only buy items that have 'Filter code 1' associated to the Item group. When I try to sell products to other customers, I do not get a stop error. When I check the product, I do not see the filter codes updated either. Is there something I'm missing in relation to using filter codes to restrict what customers buy? I've also followed the steps here: dynamicsaxcompanions.azurewebsites.net/.../Use-Filters-To-Restrict-Sellable-Products-To-Customers .

    Any input, suggestion is appreciated.

    Thank you!

If you find that restrictions do not work as you expect...   it may be because you are testing with items which are not warehouse mgmt enabled.  It seems restrictions only work against warehouse enabled items.

    Hello,

it is true that warehouse filter codes do only work for WMS enabled items ("use warehouse Management processes" in storage dimension group). A more detailed overview of setting up filter codes for products and customers you find in this blog:  blog.dynamics-for-operations.com/.../wms-warehouse-filter-codes

    Best regards

    Thomas
