GP 2013 Upgrade : Missing menu options

We are running through a test upgrade of our installation - GP 10 to GP 2013. We followed the upgrade guide and completed a test upgrade(with some errors). On launching GP we get the error - "System Manager Module is not registered. No other modules can be marked as registered.". We also noticed that we do not most of the menu options (Eg: Sales only has Payment Document Remitance). Is this because the upgrade failed or do we just need to register our keys as suggested in KB support.microsoft.com/.../981628 ? If it is a failure in the upgrade, what could be the possible causes?

    When you upgrade to GP 2013 you will need to register the 2013 keys (Microsoft Dynamics GP menu >> Tools >> Setup >> System >>Registration).
