ReportReport
Posted on by

Hi, all.

I made a custom report in visual studio 2015, in report master was chosen Report Server Version "SQL Server 2008 R2, 2012, or 2014" as it was automatically detected.
I have installed Sql Server 2014. And report is successfully deployed to report server and I can access and run it.
But when I am trying to create a custom report in CRM and upload it from existing .rdl file of my custom report - I am getting an error

Unhandled Exception: System.ServiceModel.FaultException`1[[Microsoft.Xrm.Sdk.OrganizationServiceFault, Microsoft.Xrm.Sdk, Version=8.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35]]: The definition of this report is not valid or supported by this version of Reporting Services. I  thougth about rdl schema version difference at server, but the report is successfully deployed to the server.
How can I fix it? Any ideas?
Thank you.
With regards, Yuriy.

    Hi Chapelain,

I suggest you open a service request with Microsoft to dig deeper into the issue.

You will find that although CRM is compatible with SQL 2014 if you search the compatibility guide, it is not compatible with VS2015.

Unfortunately there is no backward compatibility so you will need to start again in VS2013.

I was facing the same issue and that solved by the below steps :

    1) Select visual studio solution and right click on it and select properties

    2) select "TargetServerVersion" from the list of deployment option and set the value to "SQL Server 2008 R2, 2012 or 2014"

    3) Upload the RDL to Dynamics CRM from the bin folder instead of the project folder, it will work for you.

    Thanks

Your solution worked for us. Looking in bin instead of project folder was helpful. Thank you!
