Hi Community,

I wonder if I can have a fresh perspectives on this.

My user experience this error: "Posting date is not within your range of  allowed posting dates in Purchase Header Document type = 'Order', No. ="

From experience, Accounts needs to extend the posting date in General Ledger set up, which then user will be able to post.

However, in this case, my user still was not able to post and Receive but when I try to post and Receive I was able to

i have checked that the General Ledger Posting group is set to the right posting date.

Please advise. Thank you!

    Josh,

Adding to other replies... You want to know who should administer setting Posting From and To dates. First, on the General Ledger Setup, on the 1st Day of each Accounting Period (or night before) the Accounting designated User should set the Posting Dates for the entire company. On the User Setup, only those users, mostly Accounting users, the designated User will set the Posting From date to be the month they are closing and the To the last date of the new Accounting Period.

We teach our customers Controller or Accounting Manager to be responsible for this.

    Thanks,

    Steve

An important note here that was not mentioned is that you can leave the User Setup dates blank. When a User Setup record has no dates specified then the user is restricted only by the dates in the General Ledger Setup.

We have accounting handle both of these date changes.

User Setup date restrictions are only used for users who need to back-date entries into the prior period during period closing. Once the period is closed, their dates are set to match the General Ledger Setup dates.

Hi, as Nitin mentioned, In addition to General Ledger Setup, you also need to confirm the settings in User Setup.

    Hope this will help.

Actually its a business manager role, who actually changes the user setup dates, there are workflow you can also enabled, so that it send a notification of approval when posting date changes.

    Thanks.

Oh you are right! May I know who should be the one taking care of the user set up rights to post?

Is the administrator's role or he accounts role?

If it's the administrator's role, how would the administrator know that accounts have changed the posting date ?

    Hi Josh,

Please check the User setup page for posting date permission as well.

    Thanks.
