Posted on by 30

Hi,

Iam using BC v16, i try to set timeout for webclient to 2H, but actualy after 20-30 minutes i get this Message

Here is Administration setting - i try many combinations, i knohw that 2h keep alive interval is nonsence, when reconnect Period is MaxValue, but still i tried

pastedimage1615820724597v1.png

And  setting in NavSettings.json "SessionTimeout":  "02:00:00", (I changed it manualy and try with powershell, everytime same result)

i already read

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/administration/understanding-session-timeouts

but it didnt help me.

Can you give me some advice, what next i need to set? In older version, it worked fine....

Thank you for your help

    Hi,

You can increase the BC web client  SessionTimeout parameter as follows.

    • Get-NAVWebServerInstanceConfiguration -WebServerInstance QA1 -KeyName SessionTimeout (Check the existing timout paramter value)
    • Set-NAVWebServerInstanceConfiguration -WebServerInstance QA -KeyName SessionTimeout -KeyValue "00:50:00"

Hi JamesCairath , I also wanted to increase the web client session timeout, did you able to fix it?

    Thanks.

Has this got anything to do with update 18.3?

    support.microsoft.com/.../update-18-3-for-microsoft-dynamics-365-business-central-2021-release-wave-1-application-build-18-3-27480-platform-build-18-0-27469-233a7611-542d-4777-a0f2-25a449b712c8

"We paused while you were away. Please refresh to continue." error constantly exists during normal user workflow.

Anyway, it's ridiculous that there is no official statement on this issue. I've got several customers complaining about this message, and nothing to do..

I am also looking for a working solution for one of our customers on BC16.4 OnPrem.
The customer has already tried to optimize connection/timeout settings.

The test with different web browsers shows that the cause of the problem might be beyond BC settings.
May be the problem is with the cookies or other web browser settings?

I have found a similar issue incl. solution proposals for another software:

    RE: Webclient timeout

A stupid Experiment:  A colleague opened 10 Tabs with Business Central in parallel on Edge, and 10 on Firefox. And simply waited and did nothing.

    After 30 Minutes:

Edge: 4x Timeout, 6x still alive

    Firefox: 10x still alive

    After 60 Minutes:

Edge: 9x Timeout, 1x still alive (the one in the foreground)

    Firefox: 10x still alive

This is reproducible in different environment as well as on my Standard-Installation in Azure!

    RE: Webclient timeout

    Hi.

So having the same issue  on several different OnPrem setups (on BC16.4, but I don't think that's relevant).

I don't see how adding a trigger as per the suggestion would solve the nuisance of unintentional page timouts. This must be a platform thing, requiring a platform fix.

In our experience, this is ANY page at ANY time out: less than a minute, 5 minutes, 20-30 min as OP stated or 1 hr or most often not at all (we set the "IdleClientTimeout" to MaxValue and "SessionTimeout" to 2 hrs).

Something is causing this. And the introduction of a "PageTimeout"? Where? and why would it occur at random intevals on the same page? I made a point of tracking the Item List page on several tenants in the same multi-tenant environment and get random timeouts between 5 minutes (very rarely) and between 20 mins and 2 hrs for 2-3 sessions out of 10.

Have anyone discovered any explanation for this behavour? Or even better: a workaround?

    Regards,

    Peter.

    Hello,

That is correct, it is a feature suggestion you can vote for to have it addresses earlier by our product team.

    Thanks.

    Hello,

Unfortunately, if the page ((not the session) times out it will show this message. You can vote for this idea though to move it up on the priority list:

    Thanks.

We are experiencing exact same problem. Our clients users quickly loose connection for printing and for read / write towards local storage.
If log off and back on, everything is OK.
The client is on-prem, very latest version 17,5. (17,3/4) same issue.
What will be the best settings for not getting disconnected during work hours.
