Document Handling doesn't open the correct file / link broken

Hi There,

A few of our users use Dynamics AX to manage the ongoing projects and financial details. The users use Document handling feature to save different details. In the attached screenshot, for a particular project (R380039), they have two documents JobSheet & JobSheet-A.

If I select the first one, (Type - JobSheet), it fails with an error message as per the attached screenshot

If I select the second one, (Type JobSheet-A), it opens fine.

Both the documents are of type XLS. For the failing document as well, I can go to the folder and open it manually. But, it doesn't open in Dynamics. Feels like the reference is broken. Is there any way of seeing / checking the actual link to the document from this Document Handling window? or is it possible to remove the attachment and add the existing attachment?

    Hello Tom,

Does the file drive Y: still exist?

Have files or folders been moved or renamed?

Can you add other files? If so, where are they saved? In the same Y drive? Can you identify the folder that was previously been used?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Go to Document Management Parameters (Organization administration > Setup > Document management > Document management Parameters) and check the Folder in 'Archive directory'.

    Most likely, this is corrupt.

    Hi Ludwig,

Thanks for the reply. I have checked that the Y drive still exist and the folder also exist. Actually, I can locate the file manually in that folder. The team claims they haven't renamed the file either. Is there any way to remove the link to the attachment and then link it back?

    Hello Tom,

You should be able to add a new link by selecting the blanket sheet icon in the upper left hand corner of the form.

Once that is done, you can delete the existing attachments by pressing the delete icon.

Assumption is of course that you have the necessary user rights doing that, which I assume you have.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

I have fixed this issue. I noticed that the folder location referenced to the attachment in the jobsheet was missing a 'space' in between which was causing the problem. I added the space, and it started working.
