Single Exchange Server Hosting different CRM tenants - is it supported?

When connecting Dynamics CRM to Exchange Server via the Server Side Synchronisation its often stated that only one tenant is supported i.e. you cannot mix exchange servers from a single CRM tenant. I guess this is a limitation with the Outlook connector that only supports a single url address.

But what about Exchange server itself. Could an on-premise exchange server service mailboxes for an on-premise deployment of CRM, and also an on-line deployment of CRM, provided the on-line individuals were not active in the on-premise CRM tenant? That would mean the Outlook client would only be linked to a single CRM

We have a single on-premise exchange server, but a satellite department with their own CRM cloud instance, and we would like to activate the server side synch capabilities with our only exchange server.

Any thought or suggestions gratefully received.

    Technically should work and shouldn't be issues.  You would want to ensure that none of the users cross in both CRM deployments as that would start causing issues for those shared users who are syncing.  Mostly in the inbound tracking area and any sort of task or meeting syncs.

    You can synchronize multiple CRM environments with a single Exchange Server, but the issue is that a single mailbox that exists in multiple environments can only be synched once.

    If both instances do not have the same users, then you should not have an issue.
