Remove Credit Card as Payment Option for Cash Receipting

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

We have discovered that a number of people have used credit card as the payment option when cash receipting. The credit card is noted as Dummy, but has a cash in bank account set up to it. Because it has been used in the past we cannot delete everything because there is history associated with it. I have tried to inactivate the credit card option, however it still allows you to select and post as the credit card is the option.

What I want to try and accomplish is removing the credit card as one of the options for payment method in the cash receipting module, this would avoid the problem of people accidentally posting here.

Currently the payment options are;

- Cash

- Cheque

- Credit Card (Dummy)

- Other (we use for debit purchases)

If anyone has an idea about how to get rid of the credit card as even an option to select that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    I'm confused now. I looked at my Cash Receipts window and it isn't a drop-down, it's a radio group. My only choices are Cash, Check, and Credit Card. Where did you get the 'Other'? In any event, you could just make the Credit Card option invisible so that it couldn't be selected.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

    Hi,

    This is really pretty easy to do using Modifier with VBA. You need to take the existing drop-down box off of the window and make it inaccessible. Create a new local drop down and only put the acceptable options on it. This way, the Credit Card option wouldn't even be available. Now, you need a little VBA code. When the user selects an item off of the list, you will set the value of the 'real' drop down list to the translated value. I've done this several time and it's pretty slick.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie
