Hello everyone,

I am facing an issue with the Custom SSRS Project Tax Invoice report access in D365 F&O. When the System Administrator opens the report, it works without any problem. But when a normal user tries to open the same report, the user gets the following error:

“Error navigate to the report server on the local server machine, or enable remote errors."

What I have already done:

- Created security privilege for the custom report.
- Added the menu item to the privilege.
- Assigned the privilege to the user’s role.
- Performed database sync + full build.
- Cleared usage data (not helping).
- But still, the user is not able to run the report.

Questions:

1. Is this error related to report server permissions (SSRS role assignments)?
2. Do I need to provide any additional duty/role for accessing report servers?
3. Is there any additional setup required for custom SSRS reports?
4. How do I check if the user has permission to the Controller / Contract / DP objects?
5. Any guidance or steps to resolve this issue will be helpful.

Hi Priya,

This is not a common error for the cloud version. Can you check if the users can run other reports available in the standard application? If so, the error might be related to permissions to access data. Usually, you only need to give permissions on the output menu item to run the report.

The error seems to come from the SSRS reporting service. Can you tell about the report design? Is the custom report based on a query or data provider that builds temporary data? Is there probably a call from within the SSRS report to load additional records from F&O?

Hello @André Arnaud de Calavon,

I am getting this error in UAT.
The error occurs only for custom reports. I have created three custom SSRS RDP-based reports (Credit Note, Proforma Invoice, and Project Tax Invoice).

They were working earlier, but suddenly I am getting this error.

Could you please help me understand the cause and guide me on how to resolve it?

Hi @Priya_Kadu,

I suspected the error to be happening on the UAT. This is because, there is actually an SSRS error with your reports, this is ignored on the DEV because remote errors are not enabled on the DEV but it is on the UAT.

You need to reproduce the same error on the Dev by Enabling remote errors. Once done, you will see the actual error, resolve it and redeploy to the UAT.
