Workflow work item Escalation

I have a requirement in workflow.
When invoices are submitted, they go into a default workflow. During submission, some conditions are checked, and if a condition becomes false, the workflow should move into a sub-workflow.
Inside that sub-workflow, there is no Participant option available for escalation. But I need that option, because I want to escalate the task to cost center owners one by one if the due date and time is exceeded.
Is it possible to customize or enable the Participant option in escalation for the sub-workflow?
If not, are there any other ways to achieve this requirement?

Or Can we achieve this either a custom batch job or custom workflow?

If we can achieve this via custom batch job, can we see the escalation details in the workflow details tab itself?
I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

I'm not sure if I understand the requirement correctly. You mentioned that several conditions are evaluated that triggers a sub-workflow. Is this already the intended escalation, or do you need apart from user assignment in the sub workflow an escalation path?

The escalation path can only result in the completion or rejection of an approval or review task. This is not re-assigning a pending workflow item to another user.

Or do you have a sub workflow where you want to assign a user for an approval task based on a participant provider that is not available? If so, please tell what workflow types you have used for the main and sub workflow. Usually, it is possible to extend the workflow and have new participant providers active, but it also depends on what details is required for a participant provider.

At least, there is an option to develop new participant providers using Visual Studio.

Please clarify your question and the exact scenario.
