Android CPOS/MPOS Barcode scanning support using camera

Hi all,

In D365 Android CPOS/MPOS,  can I use mobile/Tab camera to scan product barcode?

As per Microsoft document, It says “Scanners can be supported through OPOS, Universal Windows Platform (UWP), or keyboard wedge interfaces. USB or Bluetooth can be used to connect a scanner to a computer.”

Seems MPOS or CPOS don’t contains inbuilt scanner, to use camera of mobile as a scanner.

But for android we can develop Hybrid MPOS AppCan we build extensions to support camera as scanning device?

Any Suggestions or help would be great.

Thanks,

Satya

I have seen the functionality on WMS App, but I don't think this is supported at the moment in Commmerce apps. Camera-based barcode scanning is not very friendly based on my experience. If you have multiple items stacked with barcodes, the camera sometimes captures the wrong barcode. A Bluetooth ring scanner is handier, if you are using the mobile device as a queue buster for a department store kind of environment. If you are planning to build an extension for mobile camera barcode scanning, I wouldn't recommend MPOS, as it will be deprecated in Oct 2023. Store Commerce App is the future, which is now available on the Apple app store and play store that can be installed on any device of your choice.

Dedicated barcode Android scanner is best for challenging conditions and imperfect barcodes. In theory, any camera-equipped device can scan barcodes, but your experiences may vary.
