Keeps asking to launch GP utilities

We had an installation of GP running fine, new implementation.  Something was run that is now causing us to get the message you to get the message you must run GP utilities.  You run through GP utilities, if verifies the version, and gives you the option to launch GP.  You try to launch GP and get the message that you must run GP utilities.  You get this over an over, on all workstations.  The problem appears to be with the Dynamics data base.

Does anyone know how to rebuild the dynamics database?  We are also running Business Portal, but on a different server.

I am not worried about losing the setups, we can redo these, but do not want to cause problems with BP.

Anyone have any ideas or see this?

Thank you

This may be of no help to you, but ran into this when installing GP on a new PC, and had forgotten to run the service packs after the install, this fixed it.  Basically the application version stored in the Dynamics database did not match the client, so if that is indeed it you should not have to rebuild the DYN db.  Unless you upgraded the Client version but not the GP server...

Joe, Check to see if the user has write access to the dex.ini file. It is located in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics\GP\Data directory. If the user does not have write access to the file it will not be able update the settings in the file. its related with security. give full access to your gp install folder. also make sure only one user profile instance is connected to this gp.
