Map custom fields from quotedetail entity to salesorderdetail entity

Hi All
I know how to map fields from the Quote to SalesOrder (header) but how do I map fields on the line level? From quote product to Sales Order Product? Is this something I can do from relationships mapping or need a plugin? When a quote is converted to an order it should auto populate the fields
Thanks

    Hi Samantha,

You're correct that mapping fields from Quote to Sales Order at the header level is straightforward via entity relationship mappings. The same principle applies for line-level mappings between Quote Product (QuoteDetail) and Sales Order Product (SalesOrderDetail). Just make sure you keep the following things in mind.

Field Mapping: Quote Product Sales Order Product

You can map custom fields between Quote Product and Sales Order Product using standard entity mappings, provided the system relationship between the two is leveraged during the quote-to-order conversion process.

In the following the two paths for setting it up:

    1. Use the Classic Customization UI (Legacy)
      1. Navigate to Advanced Settings Customizations Customize the System.
      2. Go to Entities Quote Product (QuoteDetail) 1:N Relationships
      3. Find the relationship to Order Product (SalesOrderDetail)
      4. Open the relationship and click Mapped Fields to define your field mappings.

    2. Alternatively, use XrmToolBox
      1. Use the "Your Entity Attribute Mappings" plugin for a more intuitive interface.

Just ensure that the relationship is included in your solution if you plan to transport it across environments.
    Important Notes:

Field Types Must Match: The source and target fields must have identical data types (e.g., Text to Text, Option Set to Option Set) for the mapping to work correctly.

This mapping only applies when the standard quote-to-order conversion process is used. Custom processes may require plugins.

    Hope this helps clarify things!
