GP Projects and Cost Categories

Hello Gurus,

We have around 500 new projects to be added for new fiscal year.

I want to know if there is a way I can import into GP table and link with cost categories to them.

Can you please let me know what are the tables I need to know.

Thanks

Reddy

RE: GP Projects and Cost Categories

Integration Manager (GP eConnect adapter) has EE and ETimesheet integrations.

You could try using a proven approach using MS Merge when combined with GP Macros.

    1. You would capture the keystrokes used to add a PA project by signing onto GP and adding a project. Click on start recording the macro before you open the PA project window. Click on stop recording the macro after you are done saving the project.
    2. This macro will be saved to file that you can open in MS Office word and with a help of an excel list (that includes projects) you could replace the project code literals found in the macro with the parameter that will be sent by the mail merge command.

Not crazy about this. But macros are like IM wherein if GP pops a dialog box in the middle of your macro it will just stop.

PA01201  - PA Project Master File
PA01001  - PA Cost category File

Alternatively you could turn SQL trace on by setting the log SQL message setting found in the dex.ini file of the GP install\data folder and capture the SQL used while you add a new Project. Then make sense of the dexsql.log file found under the same location and write  SQL wrapper to replace all the literal values.  You may have to make changes to the wrapper program the next time you upgrade GP.
