Our company has a need to be able to track products that are offered to our customers and be able to tell if they were accepted or declined. Currently we are using the product inline view to add products within an opportunity and continue from there, but I have not been able to find a way to represent products that were offered and not closed.
Previously in CRM 2011, we had developed custom entities and forms which would allow us to pull products relative to the current user service type and then allow the user to mark whether or not the sale was closed via dialog. If at all possible I would like to stray away from the dialog option as utilizing business processes allows the user to view information about the account simultaneously when working with a client. Logically it seems the best way to do this would be to integrate an offer status check box (go/no-go, Evaluate Fit) into the inline product view and have those values saved to their corresponding locations.
From what I can tell it is not possible to customize the default product inline view with anything less than C#. I have attempted to create and utilize a customized product inline view to use instead, but when I open an opportunity and attempt to make changes to the product (quantity, cost, offer) it doesn't allow any updates or changes to be made and appears to be locked.
Any suggestions as to what an ideal setup would be from the end-user perspective would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
