GP 2013 Cannot Paste from Excel GL to Transaction Entry

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

We recently migrated our controller's profile to a new PC, and when Dynamics GP 2013 was installed he lost the ability to paste in GL information from Excel to the Transaction Entry window. No errors or reports come up, simply nothing happens when he clicks on the Paste function button. I tried looking into this fix, but I did not see the line referred to in either the new or old PC's dex.ini file.

He has been able to Paste into the Transaction Entry window on his old PC. The program version on both PCs is 12.00.1753.000. Any help would be appreciated.

We had tried adding in the line ‘UseCOMForExcelExport = FALSE' to the dex.ini file without any success.

GP was installed locally, so there was no TS or Citrix to configure.

We checked the SmartList export to Excel, and it worked fine.

When we copied in the old GP2013 directory, and renamed the one on the new PC, the Paste function started working again. Thanks.

I'm still not sure what was precluding the Paste function, but it works now, so I am happy with that.

Also, I just got this in my RSS feed, from Mariano: dynamicsgpblogster.blogspot.com/.../excel-copypaste-feature-not-working-on.html;utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+TheDynamicsGpBlogster+%28The+Dynamics+GP+Blogster%29

When you say that you migrated their profile, does that mean that you are using Terminal Server or Citrix to access GP? Or is GP installed locally on the new PC?

If it is a local install, you can try copying from a working machine to the non-working machine, the entire contents of C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Dynamics\GP2013.

If it is TS or Citrix, you might need to see if your IT department can recreate their user profile. There might be something wrong with it.

Out of curiosity, can this person export from SmartList to Excel with no issues?
