Business process flow from lead to opportunity

Hi all,

I am looking to create a scenario on lead to opportunity form where a POS field (whole number) on the opportunity form updates with values as per the Business process flow stages. Each Business process flow stage has at least two substages field with one or two values.

My question is how can I acheive this, I assume along the lines of building a business rule or workflow to kick it off?

Any guide or steps on this issue is much appreciated.

I have the same question (0)

RE: Business process flow from lead to opportunity

    Hi Leah,

Thanks for your reply. Sorry coming back to this again, since the Probability Success field is on the Opportunity form and not on the Lead form based on the (BPF stage: Identification and fields).

My question is I would like to know if I can use a workflow that triggers updating the Opportunity form field (Probability of Success) based on the BPF Fields Value as per above?

Also, I need to make those custom BPF fields as a checkbox or options set on the BPF but as far as I can see the BPF has no option for make the fields as a checkbox or what is the suggested best practice please.

    Kind regards,

    Thank you

    Sol

    Hi Sol007,

What you need is updating one field based on other fields value.

You can create a business rule to achieve it.

    Hi Leah Ju,

Thanks for your guide on this, please see screenshots of my current issue, the five custom BPF stages and substage with values that will update the Probability of Success field based the BPF Sales stages:

    Identification-Stage-with-two-fields.jpeg

Identification BPF Stage has two substages (Data type: two options (checkbox)) : Exploratory view of Target (0) and Introduction Contact Made (10)

    Qualification-stage-with-two-fields.jpeg

Qualification BPF stage has two substages(Data type: two options (checkbox)): Qualified (20) Scoping of Opportunity (30)

    Presentation-of-Value-with-type-of-proposal-dropdown-fields.jpeg

Presentation of Value BPF stage has two substages(Data type: Option set): Type of Proposal: Competitive (50) Non-competitive (60)

    Buying-process-with-one-field.jpeg

Buying process stage has one substage (Data type: two options (checkbox)): Proposal Discussed Rescoping (70)

    Contract-Negotiation-signed-with-two-fields.jpeg

Contract Negotiation BPF stage has two substages(Data type: two options (checkbox)):  Contract negotiation (80) Contract Signed (100)

    Probability-of-Success-field-.jpg

These field updates with the above values as per the BPF stages.

Could you please guide me further on how to achieve this.

    Kind regards,

    Sol

    Hi Sol007,

Yes. You can use Microsoft Dataverse (when a row is added, modified or deleted) as trigger.

From the second link i provided, which using 'Common Data Service-When a record is created, updated or deleted' as trigger, they are same, just upgrade.

Common Data Service (CDS) — the data storage system that intensifies Dynamics 365 and Power Platform — has changed its name to Dataverse, part of a bigger rebrand at Microsoft. Dataverse does the same thing as CDS — but with a different name.

Out With The Old, In With The New - Microsoft Dataverse (dynamicconsultantsgroup.com)

For updating opportunity probability field, you can refer following link, which shows how to update it through Business rules:

Also, you can ask new questions with screenshots in the forum if you have any doubts, i will guide you further.

    Hi Leah Ju,

Thanks for the helpful signposting. With using the flow in Power Automate would setting the Trigger by using: Microsoft Dataverse (when a row is added, modified or deleted) applicable?

The other scenario is that the BPF has custom 5stages and substages field with some values that updates the probability field (%) on the opportunity form as per the BPF stages. This Probability (%) field is just a standalone field on the opportunity.

Besides, I can send screenshots if needed. Could you guide me further?

    Regards,

    Sol

    Hi Sol007,

You can use workflow or flow to update field on form based on BPF stage.
