    Hi,

these instructions are really really good.

But there seems to be another easier way (at least if you have only one aos on this machine - or it is the 'last' (if you have more than once))

The Dynamics Ax installer does a lot of these things internally (maybe something more). So let it work for you.

The workaround would be (assumed the person have enough rights on the database server (maybe its not on this machine) and on the machine itself.

    - Deinstall the AOS Server instance

    - Reinstall a 'new' AOS Server instance from the SetupDVD (slipstreamed with the correct version) pointing to the still existing database

During Installation you will be promted for the ServiceAcccount.

Even the 'give permission to temp db' startup scripts in the master database are set correctly to the specified account.

    Maybe this is easier?

Problems can arise (really really seldom) if you deinstall a AOS which is not the 'last ' on your machine (e.g. You have three AOS'es  and the one you're going to remove/reinstall is the first or the second)

But haven't seen this kind of problems for a long time. (Think it depens on the actuality of the installer itself)

    regards

    Douglas

    Hi Martin.

if you are already 'using' this copy and only want to change the current aos service account,

    no checklist at all .

(assuming that your copy is already 'disarmed' - all the things which should be applied after copying/moving an environment - but this was not your question)

Simply install the AOS Server instance. During startup of this instance all the required things in the folder (assemblies, label files) are created.

Things  you have to do in all cases - even if switching the AOS service account  using the script.

You should recreate/rebuild all client configs (axc) after changing the serviceaccount (don't forget the axc config file in the report server (if you use this)) to reflect the changes in the wsdl part.

    regards

    Douglas

    Hello Martin!

You have to be carefull because sometimes the AOS Service account is used by other services like BCPROXY, SSAS, SSRS, IIS APP Pool and others...

If you are not changing the Domain name, you can just change the AOS Service account and see if you will have problem with other AX2012 componentes. If you see problems you can just update the service account for the componente with problems.

to re-install the AOS Service is a good idea too, but it dont work for the other AX2012 componentes and you will have to check then after!

    we have other accounts for

Application Object Server (AOS) service account

    Business Connector proxy account

    Search crawler account

Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services account

    SQL Server Database Engine account

    Connector integration user account

so its not a problem in my opinion

ok so just uninstall and install clear AOS? only aos? what about client? i never uninstall aos :)
