Mass-Edit Contacts (or other entity objects) else but Internet Explorer

Posted on by 1,275

In our 365 v82. on-premises Dynamics CRM, but same behavior with our sandbox CRM Online tenant, we observer that most of the time a mass-edit of more then one selected CRM contacts (but same is also true for e.g. Accounts etc.) is not possible. This is only possible always if we use Internet Explorer (which isn't even available anymore on Windows 11). If we use Chrome or Firefox, Edge, if we select one ore more objects, the Edit Button does not appear.

Often this Edit Button does not show up

It is not clear when it shows and when not. It looks like highest chance to have this button is if we use in-private browsing and also it seems to make a difference whether we use the IFD-Url or the internal one. Might have an impact which cookies are applied or not.

Does anyone know more about this behavior? any hints are welcome.

kind regards,

Dieter

As I am the Administrator by myself I have at least updated my 8.2 CRM to latest CU, which was 8.2.3.8 and is now 8.2.28.11. And indeed, it looks like this helped. Not got this confirmed yet from my key users, but to me it looks good now.

Thanks for your feedback, nut I never managed to get valid license for 9.0 on-premises. that's also a reason why we either move to CRM Online or eventually completely away from Dynamics CRM to a different product.

In other words, it looks like MS theoretically still provides on-prem versions, but in practice, at least in Germany, it seems to be kind of impossible to get a license for it. That's what several of my distributors also told me, and I talked to really big ones. None of them could manage to provide me with a valid license key. We even have had v9.0 on-prem installed as a test subscription, but never could go productive with that.

But thanks for the hin, at least I figured out that there is a 8.2.28.11 CU, while we do run on 8.2.3.8, I'll give it a try with that CU then.

ask your IT administrator (or who is in charge of updates related to Dynamics in your company) to check the updates for the version you are using (8.2) because from your screenshot I can see the buttons are large, that if I remember correctly has been fixed by Microsoft with an update (not sure if for 8.2 or a more recent version like 9.0) but if that is fixed also the Edit should work as expected

    hope it helps
