Scanners/Printers/Barcoding software

Hi All,

We are going ahead with Business Central in September but would like to understand the following:

1. Recommendations on scanners that integrate easily into BC? We are looking for scanners with screens , normal ranges for distance and temperature. Probably only basic instructions such as 'picks' sent over. 

2. What are the constraints on barcode labels in Business Central ? We are looking at 1D and possibly 2D in the future. Couldn't really find much on this. We may look at Bartender software and wonder if anyone has any experience positive or negative?

3. We currently have CAB and Zebra printers for barcode labels - any experience of these ?

    Hi

    My knowledge is limited here. But we use scanner and BC for inventory, shipping, shop floor.

    1) We use a normal scanner without any screen. Hence, I cannot be any help here.

    2) I know you can design Word Document or recently use barcode in report. See below article that cover barcode in BC. But I believe for 2D you need an add-on. I listed 2 free add-on below. With these barcode will print on all your reports (SO, Job Card, etc)

    But if you need a barcode for product label or more specific barcode template that print from BC you have 2 options:

    1) design such a report in BC.

    2) use add-on. We currently use Label -It add-on. This is because we had all our labels designed in Nicelabel and we liked to use all Nicelabel functions. It is really easy to use. But if you need separate set of data some development required.

    But you can find some other add-ons such as follow for this purpose as well

    3) We are using Zebra (ZP450 / ZT610) without any issue. As I mentioned we use Label-it/Nicelabel to print product label.

    Adding to MahGah's reply... consider talking with Insight Works www.dmsiworks.com/.../ who offer scanners and can speak about their abilities. In addition they can speak about labels. If you want to speak to a hardware vendor that works with BC, talk to Barcom at https://www.barcominc.com/.
