Business Central Essential - Security Issues

Hello,

I have a user who has the following security setup and cannot seem to do basic things such as add items or vendors.

The user has the licensing:

Internal Administrator

The user has the default security groups(assigned to the appropriate company):

D365 BUS FULL ACCEESS

D365 BUS PREMIUM

D365 SECURITY

EXCEL EXPORT ACTION

None of the roles/user groups have been altered and are stock. The same security on a test user allows the user to do the required tasks. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

I have the same question (0)

RE: Business Central Essential - Security Issues

    Hello,

Customer users setup as Global Admin role in Microsoft ( Office )  365 admin center are seen on D365 BC as Internal Administrator .

     docs.microsoft.com/.../tenant-administration

"As the internal administrator, you can add users and grant permissions. For more information, see Create Users According to Licenses and Assign Permissions to Users and Groups in the business functionality content for Business Central.

As an internal administrator you have read-only access to all areas of Business Central. You will have this access even if your organization decides not to continue with Business Central and cancels the subscription. That way, you, as the internal administrator, can export relevant data, while no one else in your organization has a license to sign in and use Business Central."

You can easier identify on D365 BC tenants, user plans quering  &page=9822 ( license plan  page )  on your enviroment.

    Hope this helps.

Hi, May be its permissions issue. Check the permission sets assigned and see if BASIC permission set is assignedbfor this company.

RE: Business Central Essential - Security Issues

    Hello,

It is my understanding that Internal Administrator was an assignment for the Global Admin role in the Office 365 admin center and allowed a user to access the Business Central Admin page. However, to actually use Business Central a user required a BC license of Essential, Premium, Team Member or External Account. Based on what you wrote above I am guessing you have purchased Essential licenses and have assigned them to the User having the issue.

Can you check if this Test User has been assigned to a BC License. This could be your issue.

    Thanks,

    Steve
