Multiple problems with Dynamics CRM access to org and settings

(0) ShareShare

Posted on by
  1. When clicking to access your org via https://portal.office.com the link directs you to https://home.dynamics.com/ instead of to your CRM instance.
  2. Intermittently https://home.dynamics.com/ will not provide you access to your org whatsoever. To resolve this you need to enter https://orgname.crm.dynamics.com. This is documented elsewhere in the forums. (MyApps is also empty)screenshot_5F00_08.png
  3. Even after manually entering your org or if "Home" wants to cooperate, occasionally your org URL loads with a bad parameter called appid. This is also just an intermittent problem. When the appid parameter exists in the URL your menu options are severely limited even if you are a full dynamics admin:
    1. Here is a screenshot of the menu with the appid: 0572.screenshot_5F00_10.png
    2. Here is a screenshot of the menu without the appid: 3286.screenshot_5F00_11.png

Are there any permanent solutions to these issues, a ticket, RCA, or expected fix that anyone is aware of? (As an aside, our team develops applications for Dynamics 365 we have also seen frequent backend SQL timeout errors and postback issues.)

    Hi Brandon,

I think it is better to raise a ticket in Microsoft support.

    Hi Brandon,

Thanks for letting us know your situation. What I mentioned is still correct but your instance may have some issues that is not normal. Please let us know how you go with your new instance for the benefit of wider community.

    Cheers,

RE: Multiple problems with Dynamics CRM access to org and settings

    Hello Nadeeja,

I have found your answer to not be the case. Apparently there are some extremely long load times within the platform. After login I waited about 15 minutes and my tiles finally loaded. I have confirmed there are many problems with my instance after being on the line with support and they have asked me to abandon my current free trial and create a new one.

RE: Multiple problems with Dynamics CRM access to org and settings

    Hi Brandon,

The behaviour you are experiencing I believe by design and are features :).

    1. Dynamics 365 introduced home.dynamics.com page as the landing page access all CRM instances (DEV, TEST, PROD) and also Apps within each CRM instance.
    2. When you are not authenticated or your session has timed out, home.dynamics.com page can't load your tiles.
    3. With Dynamics 365, Microsoft introduced the App concept. OOTB you get the apps Sales, Customer Service, etc, if you have selected them when provisioning.  You also get an app called "Dynamics 365 - custom".  If you open this one, you get the full access you are familiar with.  The appid querystring determines the App you are after (Sales or Customer Service), which restricts to the entities related to that App.  You can also create your own apps. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics/crm-customer-center/design-custom-business-apps-by-using-the-app-designer.aspx

    Hope this clarifies it.

    Cheers,

    Nadeeja
