I am trying to install the SRSDataConnector on my SQL Server 2012 server. Reporting services is installed and up and running however whenever i try to run the SRSDataConnector installer I receive the following error.....

"Installation of one or more missing prerequisite components failed. For additional details see logfile C:\Users\xxxxx\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\MSCRM\Logs\SrsDataConnectorSetup.log"

When we review the log it appears that the installer is failing to run the C++ Runtime

If you run vcredist_x64[1].exe as a stand alone install the following error message is returned...

"A newer version of the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable has been detected on this machine."

So I've removed all know traces of the C++ redistributable and now have the redist that ships with the SRSDataConnector installed - the installer runs!
However I then hit a problem with the installer not being able to validate the reporting services instance that sits along side SQL Server 2012 even though the http://SQLSERVER/ReportsServer is accessible from the CRM server via the browser!
The CRM install is running rollup 8 however the SRSDataConnector I'm trying to install is from the RTM setup ISO as I can't find an stand alone download for the SRSDataConnector and I can't use the Rollup 8 Installer on the SQL Server because the SRSDataConnector isn't yet installed! Its driving me mad!!

I got same problem. Did you fix it. or have you installed SRSDataConnector.

Sadly not, due to time constraints I ended up installing a 2008 R2 instance and using that instead. The annoying thing is that it just looks to be a bug  with the installer!

    Hi,

Please let me know if you have checked the following blog when you were facing this issue with data connector in SQL 2012?

    blogs.msdn.com/.../dynamics-crm-amp-sql-2012-compatibility.aspx

    Thanks,

I have the same issue.  A clean install on SQL 2012 with the CRM ISO is not possible for the connector.  That blog you link too is pointless and provides no help.  The installer needs to be updated to support newer versions of VC++ redist being installed already.

OK, I found a way around this.  The installer available from the ISO on MSDN is out of date and wont work with 2012 reporting.  Start clean (would not work after rollup 8 was applied due to DB changes) and use this installer www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx (do not apply any updates until the reporting extension has been installed everywhere you need it).

Hi Bryceg, I followed this answer, however, recieved the error ColumnID does not exist on server half way SRS installation. I used the RTM media for the server setup and the on in the link for SRS. Do I have to setup my servers with the media provided in the link as well?

    Thanks!

I was in a similar position. I had installed CRM Server using the MSDN ISO with SQL Server 2012 and couldn't install the SRSDataConnector.

I downloaded the installer from the link above. An error occurred when starting the install. However I went to the location where the installer files had been extracted to, located the SrsDataConnector setup component  (C:\temp\SrsDataConnector\SetupSrsDataConnector.exe) and ran this directly. Installation was successful and the reports are now up and running!

Well we did exacly what was suggested. We installed UR6 + UR12 on a SQL 2012 instance including SRS but failed to install the SRS dataconnector. We have tried downloading the url above but still this error occurs.. Does anyone know an alternative?

    Hi all,

please make sure we are using the installation bits available on net and not the RTM one , UR6 is required  now for the SRS data connector . if you are facing the issue with that also and getting the same error message please open  support case and we will further look into this is more details

    Thanks,

    Mohammad
