Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations Inventory Value Report too large and slow

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 6
A retail industry client has 120,000 released products, and when Inventory Value Report is generated in D365 FO, it takes a long time even when filtered to a specific time period (i.e. on average took 10 min to generate 2,300 lines) to print to the screen. We also tried tuning the parameters, batch processing and output to Excel, but the speed did not improve. Another issue is that the Excel output file takes a long time to open (i.e. roughly 10MB), so I want to know how everyone is dealing with this type of large report file as well.

    Hi,
When you use batch processing, you can run specific tasks as batch jobs and then schedule those batch jobs to run on a different computer (a batch server). By moving the processing of these tasks to a batch server, you can improve the report performance on the client computer. You can also apply range restrictions to limit the size of each batch. To further improve performance, don't submit one large batch. Instead submit multiple smaller batches for processing at the same time on different servers. Many tasks can be run as part of batch jobs.
    Best regards,
    Kevin
