Increase Maximum Length (characters) for Resolution of Case Field?

Hello,

I was looking into some fields set up by the designers of my work's solution and the Resolution of Case Field information has the Type set to Multiple Lines of Text and the Maximum Length field says 200.

I don't have the ability to edit these at my user level but am being told there's a maximum of 200 characters which doesn't seem right when the Description field for the Case can be up to 5,000 characters.

If there some way this can be modified that I can relay to my IT personnel?

    Hi Mike,

The screenshot is of a custom field as there is a prefix of hsl which shouldn't appear if you are using OOB.

The Remark field is on Case Resolution entity is where we capture the description OOB. However if you are having a custom process to capture the resolution in this new field then you can increase the length - just ask the system administrator to increase it to desired value - the max is around 1,048,576

    Hi Mike,

I test in my environment, I found an OOB resolution field in case entity, I can change length with any value as system administrator.

However, I noticed that Maximum length is grayed out from your screenshot, which means that it's possible that the administrator won't be able to change its value either, so you'll have to create an custom new field that type is multiple line of text to replace original text(resolution).

Then you can remove original resolution field from form or view and add new mutiple text field to them.
