Project FinDim Site Linking is overriding Project FinDim

We use fixed price projects and have site linking to our financial dimensions turned on.

We report our results on a by Site level, we have a FinDim for each site. When we create a new project we select the Location financial dimension, this is then mirrored in our Milestones (revenue) / Project contract etc. We create an item forecast, on occasion certain items are delivered to another one of our internal locations, which due to site linking changes the findim on the forecast. This then causes problems down the line as all postings for that item get posted to the site dimension and not to the projects actual location. Revenue is still in the correct location, which then causes an imbalance etc.

Any idea’s on how to get the site linking to not override our financial dimension on the project? Everywhere I read the project dimension take precedent but I guess because the site is linked and we change it on the project it actually updates the line dimension on the project.
