Vacation Request - Outlook Plugin - Quick Config Question

The HRM user guide mentions going to Outlook's "Add-ins" tab. From there click the Vacation Request Options button. I put in our GP server plgps.xxxxxx.com, check the HTTPS radio button and click Apply but receive the following error:

"Server was unable to process request. -----> The current user is not part of a member of an internal role.

Our BP administrator told me the following:

"You are set-up with the "user" and "Employee" Business Portal Role...as well as added to the Business Portal Employee Group."

Any ideas? He is unsure where else to add me as an internal role.

Ah yes, the old Internal/External question. This happens because you are in two "special" roles. The "Employee" role-type is constiuent, and so doesn't determine internal or external (see the "Customer" role as well.) The generic "User" role also is ambiguous. You need to be in ONE more BP role. In fact, the administrator could create a new role, without any permissions, and add you to it. That should solve the problem. (This is within the BP Administration pages--it doesn't have to do with the Sharepoint permissions.)

    Good luck!

Is there anything else it could be Grant? Our GP admin went through the steps you suggested, but I'm still receiving the same error.

    From our GP admin:

"I made a role in Business Portal with no added permissions, added to you as a role..meaning you were an "Employee", "User" and "TEST" where "TEST" was just a blank role...and you received the same error."

Well, it might help to discuss the version of BP you are on. I'm hoping it's fairly recent. The emails I'm seeing on this are from 2007--hopefully you are on a later version of the product than that.  If it is fairly old, you may still see a dropdown on that new "Roles" page, for "Internal" or "External". If it defaults, or is somehow set to External, you'll still have this problem. Another thing to try might be adding a User-Internal data permission to that new "TEST" role.

I'm sorry, I should have mentioned this earlier. Unfortunately we are still on 2007, but will hopefully be upgrading in the next four to six months. With that version, our BP admin is able to configure things "kind of" like you suggest but ultimately he is having to guess a bit because the directions are for a different version.

Thanks for all your help so far!
