Windows 7 security issue - need to activation RMS POS again when logged on as new user

Hi,

I'm having issues with Windows 7 security.  I log into the POS with an admin account, licence HQ Client and RMS POS successfully.

When I log out and log on as another user, I need to go through the activation process again, even if other user is admin as well.

I cannot find the Headquarters Client and Store Operations entries under HKLM<software<microsoft. I thought I might have to give all users full permissions, but it's as if those two entries are not created upon Activation.

Is there something simple I'm missing?  Thanks.

    After some testing I have found that I need to add Full Permissions to local users to HKLM/Software so that the registry entries can be created after I successfully activate HQ Client and SO POS.

    This behaviour is odd as I was logged in with a local admin account.  But even with that, the keys were not created after the initial activation.  The activation would be successful, but after closing and reopening HQ Client, for example, I would have to enter the licence key again.  However, once I gave Full Perms to local Users, it worked and the registry keys were created.  Thanks for your advice.

    sounds like maybe a GPO has limited access to the registry.  Do you know what your Resultant Set of Policy (RSoP) for the registry keys.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Retail Management System  for 32 bit systems

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Retail Management System  for 64 bit systems

    Hi Ed, Thanks for your response.  Yes UAC was originally turned on, but I had turned it off.  I tested giving all users full permissions to the Software hive of the registry, but the HQ and SO entries still didn't show up.

    This is very odd.  I know there are certain GPOs that are applied at the Domain Level, but cannot figure out what would be behind this odd behaviour.  I will continue to look into this issue, but if you have other advice, please let me know.  Thank you.

    do you have UAC turned on.  If so, turn this off as this will prevent proper registry entries.  Also the registry entries should be HK Local Machine -> so not per user.  But if the user the that is logged in doesn't have permission to that key or value -> then give then full permissions.  Permissions could also keep the user from viewing the registry keys,
