Creating a dynamic Dashboard

Hi,

Is it possible to filter a dashboard based on a parameter? For example, one of our requirement is to filter the data based on a territory. We have designed a dashboard which displays data related to all territories. Now the user should be able to filter the dashboard with one particular region. I was wondering if it would be possible to achieve it out of the box?

If not, how can it be realised with custom development?

Thanks in advance !

    Hi Abdul,

In which CRM Version you have? CRM 2011 or CRM 2013

It is not possible to dynamically filter a chart on a dashboard from a filter.

Refer the following thread. It have some idea.

    social.microsoft.com/.../crm-2011-dashboard-questions

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

You can't easily provide the user with a control to select a single region and apply that as a filter to all components on the dashboard.

    Some good alternative approaches:

    - Create two dashboards, one for all territories (for context), another where every component is filtered according to the user's own territory (so you need to change the views to show, for example, all Opportunities for Accounts in a Territory which is my territory).

    - Create one dashboard showing data for all territories, but with the user's own territory highlighted (maybe impossible, certainly tricky - would need some engineering works under the hood to make this work, and would not be feasible if you have very many users in each territory)

    - Create hybrid dashboards showing all territories / my territory components on same dashboard, so they are visible side by side (or one above another for time-based series)

    - Use PowerBI and embed the dashboards back inside CRM
