Setting up a new LE to use a new Reporting Currency

Hello,

I am looking for advice or feedback on the below business scenario.

One of our business groups are looking to change their reporting currency, in D365 F&O, from CAD to USD due to a Customized Gain/Loss report that pulls financial data based on the reporting currency. Because there are transactions already posted in their current LE, the Reporting currency cannot be changed. The alternative is to setup a new LE.

Other than setting up a new LE or updating the Gains/Loss custom report, is there any other solution to the above scenario?

Unfortunately not. Even if there was a work around, Microsoft wouldn't support it. I've been down this road a couple times with them.

Hi,

Like Frank and you mentioned, you should create a new legal entity for this. This is also documented by Microsoft: Change the accounting or reporting currency - Finance | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn

Thanks Frank and Andre. So what if, instead of creating the new LE, if we updated the customized Gains/Loss report to use the Accounting currency, instead of reporting currency, would that have an impact on any other subledgers?

Updating the report is worth trying. I can't say for sure whether it will work because I don't know the report design but trying it would be a lot less effort than setting up a new LE.
