Hi Everyone,

I am applying PU37 package to local D365 VHD through cmd using runbook commands. But step 20 is getting failed with below error

Error during AOS update: The process cannot access the file 'C:\AOSService\webroot\bin\Monitoring\Microsoft.Dynamics.ApplicationFoundation.DIXF.Instrumentation.dll' because it is being used by another process. [Log: C:\PU37\FinanceAndOperations_10.0.569.10005_Application\RunbookWorkingFolder\CHIPU37runbook\xa-synoptek01\AOSService\20\Log\AosService-Update_20201012162846.log]

Please suggest what solution needs to applied to overcome the error.

Thank you in advance.

Isn't DIXF service running? (The full display name is "Microsoft Dynamics 365 Unified Operations: Data Import Export Framework Service".) If so, stop it.

    Hi Martin,

Thanks for the prompt response. DIXF service is in disabled state. Is it because the I tried rerunning step 20 twice and consecutively failed 2 times?

Also could it be another reason that if .NET version must be updated one as mentioned on one of the blogs for PU37.

    Hi Rhushikesh,

You will need to update the .NET version ( to 4.7.2) in any case. So, you should do that right away and try the update again.

    Hi Rhushikesh,

If you are missing the correct .net version, you most likely get an error during devtools update, but not during DIXF. I can only assume that DIXF services failed to stop or stop operation for DIXF took too much time. If you didn't install the correct .net version, please, install it first, restart VM and try again.

Or you can download new VHD for 10.0.13 with everything pre-installed (.net and VS 2017).

Hi Gunjan and Sergei, I updated the .NET version and restarted the VM. After that step20 completed successfully.

Thank you guys for your replies.
