Dear All,
How we can generate transaction coding sheet with predefined transaction family, transaction and transaction category because initially we don't know how to put figures in it.
Also transaction coding doesn't accept the same sequence against different GL account heads.
hi
you can generate a transaction coding sheet with predefined transaction families, transactions, and transaction categories by setting up a chart of accounts and using dimension values.
To generate the transaction coding sheet, follow these steps:
Set up a chart of accounts - In Business Central, you can create a chart of accounts that includes all the GL accounts you need for your business. You can assign each account a unique number or code to identify it.
Set up dimension values - You can create dimension values for each transaction family, transaction, and transaction category. For example, you might create dimension values for "Sales," "Purchases," "Expenses," and "Inventory."
Assign dimension values to GL accounts - You can assign one or more dimension values to each GL account in the chart of accounts. For example, you might assign the "Sales" dimension value to all GL accounts that are used for sales transactions.
Generate the transaction coding sheet - Once you have set up the chart of accounts and assigned dimension values, you can generate a transaction coding sheet by running a report. The report will list all the GL accounts in the chart of accounts along with their assigned dimension values.
It's important to note that you cannot use the same sequence against different GL account heads in the transaction coding sheet. If you need to allocate a transaction across multiple GL accounts, you can use dimension values to do so. For example, you might assign the "Sales" dimension value to one GL account and the "Expenses" dimension value to another GL account for a single transaction.
Overall, setting up a chart of accounts and using dimension values can help you generate a transaction coding sheet with predefined transaction families, transactions, and transaction categories. This can help ensure that transactions are consistently coded and make it easier to track and analyze financial data.
