System Solutions POS 2009 Age Verification add on allows a store to:

Set 1 or thousands of items to have an item specific minimum age
Prompt for 2D barcode scan of drivers license at time of tender if any items have a minimum age
Prompt cashier with resultant age in years, months, and days
Warn cashier or require manager override options depending on configuration settings
