Looking for a way to add more fields to the export segments button in Real Time Marketing
    Hello CU31101219-0,

You're aiming to customize the "Export members" functionality in Dynamics 365 Customer Insights - Journeys to include additional fields. Unfortunately, direct modification of the standard "Export members" button to add custom fields is not supported.

However, there are effective workarounds and alternative approaches to achieve your goal:

    Understanding the Limitation:

    • Standard Functionality: The "Export members" button is designed to export a predefined set of fields.
    • No Direct Customization: There's no built-in configuration option to add custom fields to this export.

    Workarounds and Solutions:

    1. Advanced Find and Export (Recommended):

      • Create an Advanced Find View:

        • Navigate to Advanced Find.
        • Select the entity you are exporting members from (e.g., Contacts, Leads).
        • Add the fields you want to export, including your custom fields.
        • Save the view.

      • Export from Advanced Find:

        • Open your saved view.
        • Click "Export to Excel" or "Export to CSV..

      • Advantages:

        • Provides full control over the exported fields.
        • Allows you to include custom fields.
        • Is a standard and supported method.

      • Disadvantages:

        • Requires manual steps.

        •

    2. Power Automate Flow (Automation):

      • Trigger:

        • Create a scheduled Power Automate flow or a flow triggered by a manual button click.

      • Retrieve Records:

        • Use the "List rows" (Dataverse) action to retrieve the contacts or leads from your segment or marketing list.
        • Select the columns (fields) you want to export, including your custom fields.

      • Create CSV File:

        • Use the "Create CSV table" action to format the retrieved data into a CSV file.

      • Send Email or Store File:

        • Use the "Send an email (V2)" (Outlook 365) or "Create file" (SharePoint) actions to deliver the CSV file.

      • Advantages:

        • Automates the export process.
        • Provides flexibility for complex export scenarios.

      • Disadvantages:

        • Requires Power Automate skills.
        • Requires setup and configuration.

        •

    3. Customer Insights - Data (If Available):

      • Unified Profiles: If you have Customer Insights - Data, you can leverage unified customer profiles.
      • Segments and Measures: Create segments and measures that include your custom fields.
      • Export from Customer Insights - Data: Export the segment data, which will include the unified profiles and measures.

      • Advantages:

        • Provides a holistic view of customer data.
        • Allows you to export data from multiple sources.

      • Disadvantages:

        • Requires Customer Insights - Data.
        • Requires data unification and configuration.

        •

    4. API Access (Advanced):

      • Dynamics 365 Web API: Use the Dynamics 365 Web API to retrieve the members of your segment or marketing list.
      • Custom Scripting: Develop a script (e.g., PowerShell, JavaScript) to retrieve the data and format it into a CSV or Excel file.

      • Advantages:

        • Provides maximum flexibility and control.
        • Allows you to implement complex export logic.

      • Disadvantages:

        • Requires development skills.
        • Requires setting up authentication and permissions.

        •

    5.

    Key Recommendations:

    • Advanced Find and Export: This is the simplest and most straightforward method for exporting custom fields.
    • Power Automate for Automation: If you need to automate the process, Power Automate is a good option.
    • Customer Insights - Data for Unified Profiles: If you have Customer Insights - Data, it provides a powerful way to export unified customer data.
    • API Access for Advanced Needs: If you require maximum flexibility and control, use the Dynamics 365 Web API.

    •

By using these workarounds, you can effectively export members with your custom fields from Dynamics 365 Customer Insights - Journeys.
