There is an ‘upgrade’, or migration path, to move from RMS to AX.  The official announcement of this and the specifics, including information on data migration, pricing for SMB and Enterprise, and the announcement of the official RMS “Next Gen” product will be announced at the Microsoft Dynamics Retail Technology Conference being held April 24-26 at Casears Palace in Las Vegas.  For more information on the conference please contact Jonathan Manna - jonathan@rrdisti.com or see www.rrdisti.com/rr-conference-2014

    Hello Simon,

Thank you for your question about an upgrade path from RMS 2.0 to Dynamics AX 2012. As Jeff mentioned there is currently no direct migration path. I have attached a link to the Statement of Direction for Dynamics Retail Store Solutions. In the document it points out that at the end of the 2013 Next Generation Microsoft Dynamics RMS will be released in that version the customer will have the option to migrate to Dynamics AX if there business requirement make them a fit for that solution.

    Simon,

I don't think they've written the database conversion yet.  Last I heard it wouldn't be until 2013 and beyond.

At some point in time RMS users will be given the chance to upgrade at a reduced cost as long as they are on Maintenance.
