How to create a legend?

I have an Account entity and so when I click on Account from the left navigation bar, then I am able to select the different views.  On this screen, I would like to have a legend as I have different colors highlighting different rows based on criteria.  But I am not sure on how to create the legend part.  Can this be done and if yes how?

    Also, this isn't a chart, I am just using the default view layout that is a list.
