Error message: "An administrator changed one or more extensions in the application so the page that you were working on had to be closed"

May I know what does this error message mean "an administrator changed one or more extensions in the application so the page that you were working on had to be closed". I received this message numerous times at random times Eg. I could be entering data into sales order page or keying in a purchase order or picking stocks from lots etc. Not really occurring at specific pages.

I checked with my vendor about it. My vendor who is also our MS dynamics business central administrator set up the whole system for us. It seems that they had been accessing our system without informing us...whether it was to rectify errors, make changes to the system etc. we just need to be informed. Because whenever this error message appeared, we had to refresh and sign into the system all over again. It is most disruptive to our work.

They denied accessing our system and told me that this message was appearing due to periodic updates by Microsoft. May I know if this error message is caused by vendor administrator/developer assessing our BC system to make changes or this is due to updates by Microsoft? Would really appreciate if anyone can let me know so we can sort out this disturbing issue asap. It has been like that for the past 2 years...Thank you very much in advance.

    Hi, just adding some info.

BC updates are mainly divided into three types.
    1. Major: twice a year
    2. Minor: once a month
    3. Build: Anytime

For Major and Minor, general partners will define the update time, such as running on non-working days or non-working hours.

It looks like the partner didn't modify the update time?

And if it is due to Microsoft's Build update, there will generally be a prompt in the upper right corner.

Hope this info helps as well.

    Thanks.

In the "created by" column, there is no email add. In this case, may I know if this is likely an update by Microsoft?

    Thank you very much.

    Hi Dee282 ,

My bet is yes. See below is mine, and the gap here are updates pushed by MS

If your partner HAD pushed an update this would be outlined in the above.

    Hi Dee282 ,

A change was made by someone reloading an extension on your BC environment.

I've made a video on how to administrate D365 BC here: https://youtu.be/R7CDfpLiKqk

I would suggest you go check your Environment Operations to see who instigated the changes.
