How to set partent Product? Field is locked

I have some products.

So far, i had not worked with partent products.
Now i want to, but the fields where i could get this working are locked and i cant unlock them. This seems to be not customizable?!

I neighter can set a partent product nor can edit the productstructure-field, cause they are locked.

Is there a trick?

    thx for your reply.

    This is the bad side of ms (sorry).
    If you ever ask yourself if you should use an otb standard functionality coming with crm. Answer is: Dont use it, because it is to limited for you. In the future, there are definately coming problems with it, e.g. Importproblems, Problems because you dont need/want to use a part of the functionality, that is a required field, want to change things later, but you cant, etc.etc.etc.

    At the moment i ask myself why in heavens name i used the otb-product .. I think even further .. I would indeed continue to use CRM, but would not use any standard-entity, even account and contact, I would no longer use. I would simply create a new entity for everything I need!

    So for this i create a new lookup field and use this new!

    really really sad, but true. thx MS!

    Hi PeB

    You cannot change the hierarchy after you create the product. It is the design :(

    But probably you can try through backend using programming or can try using excel import this one I havent tried.

    I do believe you can only set the parent product when creating a new product. Once created, the field will be locked (this makes historical use of this product in old orders still correct). So if you want to change the product structure you will have to create new products and inactivate the old ones.
